Poland will mark asylum points with new symbols

According to the written statement made by the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, more than 86 thousand asylum points throughout Poland will be marked with new symbols by the end of the year.

The new signs introduced by the Ministry will feature a blue equilateral triangle on an orange background with the word "Punkt Schronienia" (shelter point) written in white underneath.

The new signs will allow citizens to easily and quickly find points that provide basic protection in case of threats such as air strikes, terrorist attacks or sudden weather events.

With the new regulation that came into force today, it has become mandatory for designated refuge points to be clearly marked with new symbols.

Property owners will be obliged to keep these signs on their property and provide access to the shelter point in case of alarm.

The Ministry also launched a smartphone application and website in December 2025, which allows citizens to see shelter points and transportation routes to these points on an interactive map.

Guide regarding air strikes published

The Polish government published new guidance last week on how citizens should act in the event of an air attack.

In the guide, it was recommended that if there is a safe route and there is enough time to reach the shelter point, use the designated shelter points and take the necessary medicines and an evacuation bag.

The Warsaw administration took these steps at a time when Russia was carrying out frequent air strikes in western Ukraine, near the Polish border, and suspicious unmanned aerial vehicles were intruding into Polish airspace.
