Prisoner goes through hole in cell grille and escapes from police station in Florianópolis

A prisoner escaped through the hole in the grille of a cell at the Florianópolis Police Station, this Saturday (26). Security cameras caught the action.

The images show the man passing his arms, head and body through the grid space. He escaped from the room where he was being held.

Hours earlier, the man had been arrested for domestic violence in a workshop in the Pantanal neighborhood. He was taken to the police station and then fled.

The Civil Police were contacted this Saturday afternoon (26) to provide clarification on the case. There was no response until the last update of the report.

A man was caught on security cameras escaping through the hole in the cell grille at the Police Duty Center (CPP) in Florianópolis. The case happened in the early hours of Saturday (26).

In the images, it is possible to see the prisoner passing his arms, head and the rest of his body through the grid space. Afterwards, he is seen leaving the room where he was.

In a statement, the Civil Police of Santa Catarina (PCSC) reported that internal security measures were adopted in the unit and efforts were initiated to locate and recapture the individual as soon as the escape was discovered.

"The cell has been closed and will undergo modifications, aiming to ensure greater effectiveness in police procedures", says an excerpt from the note.

According to NSC TV, the man was arrested for domestic violence in a workshop in the Pantanal neighborhood hours earlier. He was then taken to the police station, where he escaped.

"The Santa Catarina Civil Police informs that, in the early hours of this Saturday (26/09), a man who had been arrested in the act managed to escape from a cell at the Florianópolis Police Duty Center (CPP) after squeezing through a gap between the iron bars.

As soon as the escape was discovered, internal security measures were adopted in the unit and efforts were initiated to locate and recapture the individual.

The police authority represented the man's preventive arrest.

The cell has been closed and will undergo modifications to ensure greater effectiveness in police procedures."
