Drunk driver without driver's license is arrested after running over child and three other people in the interior of SP

A drunk driver was arrested on Saturday (26) after running over four people in Poloni (SP). One of the victims did not resist and died.

The vehicle invaded the sidewalk near a party house. The driver declared that he was learning to drive, accompanied by the drunk owner of the vehicle.

A woman was transferred to hospital with possible chest trauma. A two-year-old boy was treated for bruises on his body.

The driver and passenger were arrested red-handed. They will be charged with crimes such as manslaughter and drunk driving.

A driver was arrested after running over four people, including a child, in Poloni (SP), on Saturday (26). One of the victims succumbed to his injuries and died after being rescued.

According to police records, the accident took place on the corner of Rua Antonio Deividi dos Santos Mutamba and Rua José Durão, after a car invaded the sidewalk and hit the victims who were at the scene. A security camera recorded the moment the man climbs onto the sidewalk with the car and hits the victims.

The accident occurred in front of a party house, with other people close to the scene. The police were called and found that the driver was drunk. He underwent a breathalyzer test, which proved that he had been drinking alcohol.

The suspect told police he was learning to drive when he lost control of the vehicle. The car owner was in the passenger seat and was also drunk. The other man tested positive on the breathalyzer test.

One of the victims hit by the car was taken to Santa Casa de Monte Aprazível in serious condition, but did not survive his injuries. Her identity has not been released.

Another female victim also underwent treatment at Santa Casa de Monte Aprazível, being later transferred to the Hospital de Base de São José do Rio Preto, with possible chest trauma.

The child, a 2-year-old boy, underwent pre-care at the same health unit as the other victims, and was taken to the Children's Hospital with his mother, with bruises on his body.

Forensics were called to the scene. The driver and passenger were arrested red-handed for the crimes of manslaughter while driving a vehicle, culpable bodily harm while driving a vehicle, allowing a person who does not have a license to drive a motor vehicle and drunk driving, in accordance with the Brazilian Traffic Code.
