Four men are arrested for kidnapping the mayor of Itamarati de Minas

Four men were arrested red-handed on Wednesday (30), in Juiz de Fora, suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of the mayor of Itamarati de Minas, Césio Ladeira, aged 66. The crime occurred in the early hours of the same day, when he and the victim and his 66-year-old wife were captured during a robbery at the couple's residence.

According to information from the Civil Police, the four suspects, aged 20, 29, 35 and 37, were identified during investigations and taken to the prison system, where they remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.

The case continues to be investigated by the 4th Civil Police Department, which does not rule out the participation of others involved.

In the early hours of Wednesday, employees of the Itamarati de Minas City Hall who were sweeping the streets heard calls for help coming from the mayor's residence and called the Military Police. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found Césio's wife, who reported the crime, and began searching the region.

According to the PM, R$130,000 in cash, a Fiat Touro pickup truck, two cell phones and a registered 9mm caliber pistol were taken. Césio was tied up by the criminals and placed in the vehicle used for the escape. His wife was left in the property, also tied up.

The mayor was located inside the truck, abandoned on a side road near AMG-0525. During the investigation, the police also found the victims' two cell phones.
