Regional train derails in Normandy: 44 injured

Part of a regional train derailed in the evening on the route between Rouen and Caen in northwestern France. At least 44 people were injured, including one woman seriously, as the television station BFMTV reported, citing the prefect.

As the broadcaster BFMTV further reported, the regional train collided with a previously unknown object. One wagon tipped over and four other wagons jumped off the rails. The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Numerous rescue workers were deployed at the scene of the accident.

The train with 180 passengers on board was traveling in Normandy between the cities of Rouen and Caen in the Seine-Maritime department.
