Rome, building in Tor Sapienza cleared: 25 people identified and two arrested

The building in via Tallone, in Tor Sapienza, on the outskirts of Rome, which has long been reduced to a true "ghost property" and transformed into a makeshift refuge and collector of situations of degradation, has once again been cleared out. Carabinieri, financial police, police and local police were on site.

In recent weeks, residents of the neighborhood had reported an alleged drug dealing ring in the area, including of Fentanyl. At the end of the checks, a total of 25 undocumented non-EU citizens were identified. All the occupants were accompanied to the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters to verify the regularity of their stay on the national territory and their position is now being examined by State Police specialists. Procedures for possible repatriations have already been started. The police returned again in the early afternoon after reporting the presence of new intruders in the building, which was then found empty after checks.

During the eviction, in the morning, two foreigners were arrested for possession for the purpose of dealing psychotropic substances, respectively of Gambian and Nigerian origin, caught while trying to get rid of psychotropic substances that were available to them. During the searches inside the building, approximately 2 kg of narcotic substances such as marijuana, crack and cocaine were seized, as well as approximately 4000 euros. A small caliber pistol with live ammunition was found and seized in a piece of furniture.

"Let's bring back legality", said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. For the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, the eviction was good, but now "it is necessary for the owners to proceed quickly with the demolition of the property".
