MHK President Ferhat Gündoğdu was detained: Statement from TFF

In the operation carried out in 4 provinces centered in Istanbul, 7 suspects, including the President of the Central Referee Board (MHK), Ferhat Gündoğdu, were detained, and the records of the Türkiye Active Football Referees and Observers Association were seized.

A statement came from the Turkish Football Federation regarding the issue.

TFF's statement was as follows:

"The Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) was elected by the will of the delegates and has been continuing its work with determination since the first day it took office, in line with the expectations of the public, in order to re-establish public conscience and strengthen the understanding of "clean football, fair play".

Within the scope of these studies, our management has determinedly addressed the issue of betting and illegal betting; It made every contribution to the work carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In this context, the review and cooperation process with relevant institutions is still ongoing.

In addition, our Administration filed multiple criminal complaints to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on various dates starting from April 2025, in order to ensure justice.

The documents within TFF and requested from us are in a sealed envelope; It was forwarded to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a request to submit it to the Forensic Medicine Institute for fingerprint, DNA residue detection and other necessary examinations.

As a result, the TFF Board of Directors has taken all necessary steps to fulfill its responsibilities since the moment it took office and acted with a sense of responsibility in this process.

As the Turkish Football Federation, we have full faith in the rule of law, the independence of judicial authorities and the healthy conduct of judicial processes.
