Wall covering fell on the lawyer in Istanbul Courthouse

According to the statement made by the Istanbul Bar Association, the incident took place today on the 5th floor of Istanbul Courthouse, Block B.

Lawyer H.E., who was at the courthouse to carry out his professional activities, was injured in the head area when the wall coverings broke off and fell on him.

After the incident was reported, H.E. was taken to Prof by ambulance accompanied by an escort. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu was referred to City Hospital.

Istanbul Bar Association announced that during the interviews with the lawyer and the responsible physician, it was reported that an injury occurred due to an impact, and that no life-threatening findings were found in the first tomography.

It was stated that H.E. was kept under observation for control purposes and a final evaluation of his health status would be made after the second tomography.

The Bar Association stated that it is the responsibility of the administration to ensure that public buildings are safe in terms of life and property safety, and that it will take initiative to effectively and comprehensively investigate the incident and impose sanctions on those responsible.

In its statement regarding the incident, the Lawyer's Voice Initiative pointed out that courthouses are the actual working area for lawyers and stated that accidents occurring in courthouses should not be considered as "isolated events".
