Russia deports Ukrainian children. The sites also include a camp in North Korea

European Union countries imposed sanctions on 10 people and 17 entities in connection with their participation in the illegal deportations of Ukrainian children to Russia. The list included, among others: Moscow Tourism Committee, Russian children's and sports camps, Songdowon International Children's Camp in North Korea.

This is where, as reported by the European Council, Ukrainian children are taken. They are often separated from their families under the pretext of "holiday" trips or stays in centers. Instead, they are placed in Russian institutions, foster or adoptive families and are subject to Russification.

The exact number of deported children cannot be determined yet

According to the latest data from the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, from the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022 to February 12, 2026, data on 19,546 Ukrainian children who were to be illegally deported to Russia or forcibly resettled were verified. However, the prosecutor's office emphasizes that the state verification procedure is ongoing and the number may change.
