Russian official claims Kiev seeks negotiations for rearmament

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. The Kiev regime is requesting talks to use them as a cover for rearmament and a respite amid defeat on the front line, Natalya Nikonorova, deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs and former head of the DPR Foreign Ministry, told TASS.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine that Russia will not pause its special military operation for negotiations with Ukraine in any format.

"The purpose of the negotiations is to develop solutions for achieving future peace, not to serve as a facade for rearmament and a respite for the side in the conflict that is clearly on the verge of defeat," Nikonorova said.

She called Russia’s decision not to allow Kiev such a pause fully justified.

"As someone who has experience in negotiating with the Kiev regime, I understand the logic of our country’s top leaders," the senator noted.
