Russian drone strike on Kyiv: 14-year-old boy killed

According to Ukrainian police, a Russian combat drone hit a high-rise building in Kiev this morning and killed a 14-year-old boy. At least seven other residents of the apartment block were injured, the police in the Ukrainian capital said on Telegram. President Volodymyr Zelenskyj confirmed the information.

Defensive fire could be heard over the center, then the flight of the jet-powered drone and the impact, as a dpa reporter reported. In this case, the air alarm was only triggered shortly afterwards. Ukraine is still working on an effective defense against the fast jet-powered Shahed drones that Russia has further developed. Another death was reported in Odessa after the nightly Russian air strikes.

Ukrainian attacks on refineries and factories

For its part, Ukraine continued drone attacks on oil and industrial facilities in Russia. Zelensky confirmed previous unofficial reports. “We respond to Russia’s brutal attacks on life,” the head of state wrote on Telegram. Accordingly, refineries in Perm in the Urals, around 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine, and a refinery in Novoshakhtinsk in southern Russia were hit. Another target was reportedly an electronics factory in Ulyanovsk on the Volga. He initially did not confirm an attack on a chemical plant in Voronezh.

Russia has been trying to subdue Ukraine with its war of aggression for more than four and a half years. Ukraine is fighting back with the help of Western support.
