[Reporter Luo Xinzhen/Pingtung Report] Following the groundbreaking of the semiconductor supply chain zone led by TSMC in the Pingtung Science Park in June, the expansion plan of Nanya, a major DRAM manufacturer under the Formosa Plastics Group, was also reviewed by the National Science Council and confirmed to be located in Pingtung on the 1st. The Pingtung County Government said it was "happy to see the results" and also looked forward to the high-tech manufacturers bringing new opportunities and more employment opportunities to Pingtung's industrial upgrading and promoting economic development.
The Pingxian County Government stated that the entry and layout of high-tech manufacturers is definitely not something that can be achieved overnight. The Pingtung Science Park will start investment in July after the Executive Yuan approves the design drawings in 2020. The public works construction that will start in May 2023 is expected to be completed next year. Several manufacturers are simultaneously starting construction of their factories. Now, coupled with Nanya Technology's approval to enter the park, it fully proves that the national policy "Great Southern New Silicon Valley" S Corridor has officially extended to Pingtung, and Pingtung has officially entered the national semiconductor team and stood on the key map of the global supply chain.
Nanya Technology applied to set up a branch in Pingtung Park, mainly engaged in advanced semiconductor 3D wafer packaging and testing business. The company uses silicon through-hole and wafer stacking technology to develop high-capacity, high-bandwidth, low-latency, and low-power memory modules. By deepening customer cooperation and ensuring supply chain flexibility, it continues to promote technological innovation and consolidate product uniqueness and market leadership.

The Urban and Rural Affairs Department also explained that the reason why companies can invest with confidence is because Pingtung has deployed a high-speed rail designated area in advance before the industry settled in, creating a cornerstone for livability and industry, and has already prepared stable hydropower, green energy and soil. In terms of land resources and transportation, it also promotes the southern extension of the high-speed rail, the groundbreaking of the eastern end of Gaoping 2 Kuaiping, and the westward relocation of the Taiwan Railway Liukuacuo Station; in terms of life and education, it combines Pingke’s enrollment in high school admissions, industry-university cooperation between colleges and universities, and the medical network of four major medical centers, as well as child care subsidies, preferential mortgages and social housing, and it also creates an international baseball stadium and art field.
The Ping County Government emphasized that the presence of Nanya Technology and major technology companies will bring high-quality local high-paying employment opportunities to Pingtung, so that children in Pingtung no longer need to leave their hometowns, and it will attract young people and professional talents to return. At the same time, high-tech energy will also drive the development of related local industrial chains, and even accelerate the smart upgrading of traditional agriculture and fisheries, injecting strong momentum into Pingtung's overall economy.
