Saipem wins contract for Profertil fertilizer project in Argentina

Saipem has been awarded a contract for engineering services by Profertil as part of the project to expand its fertilizer production complex in Argentina, a strategic initiative aimed at increasing the national urea production capacity and supporting the country's agricultural supply chain.

The project involves the development of a new urea plant with a production capacity of 4,450 tonnes per day, helping to meet the growing demand for fertilizers in Argentina and the wider market in the region. The activities will be carried out by Saipem in partnership with Techint Engineering & Construction, enhancing the complementary skills of the two companies. The initiative will integrate Topsoe's ammonia production technology, Saipem's proprietary urea production technology and Thyssenkrupp Uhde's granulation technology.

Saipem's scope of work includes the provision of technical services, the preparation of the licensors' design packages (Licensors' Design Packages) and the development of a structured proposal for the subsequent development phases of the project. The expected duration of the contract is 11 months.
