The trial of the woman who allegedly threw away her newborn baby in Samsun continued

The incident took place in Fevzi Çakmak District of İlkadım district. Allegedly, Hanım C. (42), a mother of three children, who was learned to have divorced her husband, hid her pregnancy and gave birth alone at home.

The woman, who became ill after birth, applied to Samsun Gynecology and Children's Hospital on October 14. The situation was reported to the police after the woman's baby, who was determined to have given birth during the checks, was not found.

Homicide Bureau teams searched the garbage containers and garbage transfer station in line with the woman's statement, but the baby could not be found. Ms. C., who was taken into custody after her treatment, said in her first statement that she gave birth to her baby at home, realized that she died after a while, put it in a bag and threw it in the trash. In his statement to the prosecutor's office, he stated that the baby was born alive. A lawsuit was filed against Ms. C., who was arrested, at Samsun 5th High Criminal Court for "intentionally killing a newborn child".

At the third hearing of the case today, the detained defendant Hanım C. said, "My child was stillborn. If he had been born alive, I would have taken care of him. I do not accept the accusations. My special child and my other children are victims because I am detained. I demand my release."

The defendant's lawyer, İlhan Ayrancı, said, "The defendant said that he had a stillbirth both at the hospital and at the police, and in his first statement, he said that he was born alive when he was not conscious. There is no evidence that the baby was born alive. We want my client to be acquitted."

The prosecutor explained his opinion in line with the evidence collected and requested that Hanım C. be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "aggravated intentional murder of the child and descendants".

The hearing was postponed to a later date after the defendant's lawyer İlhan Ayrancı requested time to defend against the opinion.
