RAM and processor details of the Samsung Galaxy S27 series leaked

New information has emerged about RAM features and processor preferences for the Galaxy S27 series, which Samsung is preparing to launch next year. According to the news by South Korea-based The Bell, based on internal sources, Samsung is currently passing Micron's new LPDDR5X memories through quality tests. These memories are developed based on Micron's 1y production process.

This process, which is equivalent to the 1c DRAM production technology by Samsung and SK hynix, has an important place in the company's next generation memory strategy. Allegedly, not only technical features but also increasing RAM costs play a decisive role in Samsung's choice.

It is stated that Micron is demanding approximately 50 percent higher prices for the new LPDDR5X memories compared to the DRAM solutions produced by Samsung's own Device Solutions unit. Considering that Micron generally applies a price difference of 20 to 30 percent in new generation memories, the current 50 percent difference is quite remarkable.

This shows that even if Samsung chooses Micron's LPDDR5X solutions, it may face a higher memory cost compared to previous Galaxy S models. Therefore, it is understood that the company carries out a very meticulous work on cost management.

These memory preferences of the company are among the factors that directly affect the final production costs of smartphones and therefore their market prices. This change in the hardware world also reflects Samsung's search for efficiency in the production line.

Processor Strategy and Model Separation

It is not yet clear whether all models of the series will use the same memory technology. According to current rumors, the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra models are expected to use LPDDR6 memory along with Qualcomm's next generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.

It is estimated that the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus models will continue with LPDDR5X memory technology. It is also claimed that these two models will use Samsung's own developed Exynos 2700 processor.

Exynos 2700, which is stated to be built on Samsung's second generation 2nm production process, can play a critical role in the company's new generation mobile processor strategy. This processor is considered an important step, especially in terms of energy efficiency and performance balance.
