Minibus accident on Şanlıurfa-Akçakale highway: 19 injured

The accident occurred in the evening hours in Koruklu District on the Şanlıurfa-Akçakale highway.

The minibus with plate number 44 ABG 037, carrying agricultural workers and whose driver's name is not known yet, went out of control and fell into the irrigation canal as a result of its driver losing control of the steering wheel.

Upon the notice of the surrounding people, many health, fire brigade and gendarmerie were dispatched to the region. The teams started working to remove the injured people in the vehicle. In the accident, 19 people, including women and children, were removed from the minibus by the work of the teams.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Akçakale, Harran and Şanlıurfa city center by ambulances and received treatment. Due to the accident, the Akçakale direction of the Şanlıurfa-Akçakale highway was closed to vehicle traffic for a while.

While long vehicle queues formed on the road, gendarmerie teams took security measures in the region against a possible second accident.

The minibus, which fell into the irrigation canal, was removed from its location with the help of a tow truck and a crane and taken to the parking lot. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
