5.4 Magnitude Earthquake in Şanlıurfa Karaköprü: Damage Assessment Works Started

Following the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 10.40 in Şanlıurfa's Karaköprü district, some houses and barns were damaged in the rural Pınarbaşı District.

Deep cracks appeared in the walls of some buildings in the neighborhood, which is approximately 30 kilometers away from the district center, and collapses occurred in some places.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT WORKS HAVE STARTED

Damage Coordination Commission teams of the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change were dispatched to the region. The teams started damage assessment studies in the structures affected by the earthquake.

Neighborhood resident Ahmet Baydilli stated that they experienced great fear during the earthquake and said, "There is damage to 4-5 houses in our neighborhood. The corners of some houses collapsed, some have partial cracks."

Explaining that she was caught in the earthquake in the kitchen, Hacer Baydilli stated that the earthquake was severe and said, "Our house was severely damaged. Thank God, nothing happened to us."
