São Paulo creates new motorcycle battalion to fight crime with a focus on intelligence and mobility

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the teams will be distributed according to criminal intelligence data and information from Muralha Paulista. Based on the analysis of crime scenes, personnel can be concentrated in places with the highest incidence of robberies and thefts and moved according to changes in the criminal scenario.

Of the total number of motorcycles in the new battalion, 16 will have two police officers on the same motorcycle: while one of them drives the vehicle, the second will be able to disembark to support approaches and other police actions, informed the SSP.

"BRAvO transforms information into police action. Intelligence helps us identify where crime is happening and mobility allows us to quickly place prepared police officers at these points. It is a structure designed to expand the State's presence and response capacity where it is most needed", stated the Secretary of Public Security, Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves.

According to the state government, the use of motorcycles seeks to facilitate the movement of teams amidst major congestion and allow access to roads where four-wheeled vehicles have reduced mobility.
