Saudi Customs Records 1,075 Contraband Seizures in One Week

RIYADH — Land, sea, and air Customs ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,075 seizures of contraband last week. The seized items included 71 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills, in addition to 390 other prohibited materials.

Customs ports also thwarted attempts to smuggle 2,234 shipments of tobacco and its derivatives, along with 39 types of cash and two types of weapons and related equipment.

The seizures were part of the ongoing efforts of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and protect society from all types and forms of prohibited substances.ZATCA affirmed its commitment to maintaining strict customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to safeguard security and protect society, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.

At the same time, ZATCA called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling and protecting society and the national economy by contacting the dedicated security reporting number (1910), via email, or the international number (009661910).

Through these channels, the authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality. ZATCA also grants a financial reward to whistleblowers if the information provided in the report is found to be correct.
