Shot at driver in Berlin-Tempelhof: Homicide commission investigates

In the middle of the night, a driver in Berlin-Tempelhof was seriously injured by a gunshot. A projectile apparently went through the windshield of his Mercedes and hit the man. The car then left the road, drove between several trees and crashed into a portable toilet cubicle. The homicide squad has taken over the investigation.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on Gottlieb-Dunkel-Strasse. According to current information, the driver was hit while driving. The Mercedes only came to a stop after colliding with the toilet cubicle.

Second incident in Berlin

Just one day earlier there had been a shooting with a blank gun in Berlin-Niederschönhausen. Witnesses observed a car stopping on a street corner early in the morning around 1 a.m., police said. A passenger is said to have gotten out and shot several times at the unknown man on the street.

According to the information, a blank gun was said to have been used. Two suspects are then said to have fled with other people. The alleged injured person initially lay motionless on the sidewalk for several minutes, it said. After he came to, he left before the alert police arrived.

Officers are currently investigating his identity and the nature of his injuries. Tram traffic had to be stopped in the area for around an hour. It is not known whether the two incidents are related.
