2nd wave in Silifke: 7 detained

7 people were detained in the second wave corruption operation against Mersin's Silifke Municipality.

According to the news in DHA; In the investigation carried out against Silifke Municipality under the coordination of the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that some public personnel and contractors working in the municipality committed crimes of bribery, establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime, tender rigging and abuse of office.

Upon notices received within the scope of the investigation; MASAK reports, bank account movements, HTS and PTS records were examined.

In the statements given by the suspects in order to benefit from the effective remorse provisions, it was admitted that bribes and benefits were requested from contractor companies doing business with the municipality in exchange for progress payments, money was handed over to some officials, irregularities were made in direct procurement tenders, and collusive transactions were carried out in organizations affiliated with the municipality.

It was determined that the confessions were compatible with HTS-PTS records and MASAK reports. In simultaneous operations carried out on June 19, searches were made at the suspects' homes and workplaces, as well as the Silifke Municipality service building and the Silifke Belediyespor Club building.

In addition to digital materials, tender and zoning documents, ready-to-use company stamps, sealed offer letters and a large amount of foreign currency were seized during the searches. 11 people, including Mayor Mustafa Turgut, were arrested.

Within the scope of the investigation, Deputy Mayors Osman Şen and Rahile Demren and E.T.T., M.K., Ü.D., A.E.S. and Y.N.C. A total of 7 suspects were detained.
