SpaceX's Starship Rocket Reached Earth Orbit for the First Time

SpaceX started a new era in space aviation history with the Starship orbital success. The giant rocket, expected to carry humanity to Mars, was successfully launched from facilities in South Texas last Monday.

The vehicle, which has the title of the most powerful rocket in the history of space aviation, settled into Earth orbit for the first time despite the technical problems experienced during the flight. This development shows that a critical threshold that the company has been working on for a long time has been left behind.

New Generation Starlink Era in Orbit

Shortly after the upper stage separated after launch, one of the six Raptor engines supplying the power system failed. Despite the loss of one of the Raptor engines, Starship's ability to reach orbit was not affected.

The giant vehicle, which successfully settled into orbit, released 26 new generation V3 Starlink satellites into space. Company officials confirmed that connection was established with all launched satellites.

These new V3 satellites are expected to begin providing internet service to customers within the next few weeks. According to SpaceX's statements, V3 satellites carried in a single Starship launch offer network capacity equivalent to the capacity provided by V2 mini versions launched with the Falcon 9 rocket in 20 flights.

It should be noted that the company decided to deviate from the original plan in the later stages of the mission. Starship's upper stage was planned to make 6 trips around the Earth for approximately 9 hours.

When approximately 1.5 hours of the flight passed, the company announced that it decided to launch the spacecraft early. SpaceX announced in a statement on its official X account that the flight crews will land Starship in a predetermined safe zone in the Pacific Ocean after 3 hours in orbit.

The landing also went smoothly. This new Starship test is also the second launch after SpaceX's public offering.

Spaceport of the Future and NASA Goals

It should be noted that Elon Musk has built the entire future of the company on Starship. Radical projects such as NASA's Moon missions and establishing data centers in orbit are completely focused on this rocket.

Musk aims to make Starship, which has the title of the most powerful rocket, fly thousands of times a year. In line with this vision, the company also reached an agreement to build a second Starbase spaceport in the state of Louisiana, which will surpass the facility in Texas.

100 million dollars will be invested in that project. SpaceX plans to significantly increase its operational capacity with this new facility.
