SpaceX Acquires Artificial Intelligence Coding Startup Cursor for $60 Billion

SpaceX acquired artificial intelligence coding startup Cursor for $60 billion. Companies are now developing Grok models under the umbrella of SpaceXAI.

Cursor, known for its artificial intelligence-supported coding tool, has officially joined SpaceX. While the purchase agreement between the companies was announced in June, it is stated that the cooperation started in April for the purpose of training artificial intelligence models.

With the acquisition process, SpaceX's extensive artificial intelligence infrastructure becomes available to Cursor. Cursor announced that it will gain access to the world's largest GPU fleet thanks to this agreement.

Infrastructure and strategic merger

This new infrastructure is expected to help the company develop more advanced artificial intelligence models and offer them to its customers at lower costs. It is stated that SpaceX paid 60 billion dollars for this acquisition.

This development took place after Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI merged with SpaceX. After the merger, xAI took the name SpaceXAI and expanded its artificial intelligence investments to a broader structure.

New models and future goals

Following the new restructuring, SpaceXAI and Cursor announced Grok 4.5, the first model they developed together. This model aims to show high performance in tasks performed by coding and artificial intelligence agents.

Companies emphasize that Grok 4.5 can produce results at a lower cost compared to previous solutions. Grok 4.6, released subsequently, focuses not only on code generation but also on performing complex tasks in the real world.
