“Super Real Mahjong Venus Returns” ranks first in Steam domestic sales ranking for 5 consecutive days

The mahjong game "Super Real Mahjong Venus Returns" (hereinafter referred to as "Super Real Mahjong VR"), which was released on August 27th, ranked first in Steam's domestic sales ranking for five consecutive days. The legendary mahjong game that once dominated game centers across Japan has been revived using modern technology, so it's no wonder it's attracting so much attention.

"Super Real Mahjong" is an undressing mahjong game in which when you win a mahjong game, your opponent's heroine takes off her clothes one by one. Eight arcade games were produced between 1987 and 2001. The secret to its popularity is not only the charm of the characters, but also the use of groundbreaking animation at the time for the undressing scenes.

I also used to play past games in the series, especially ``Super Real Mahjong PⅤ'' (released in 1994), the fifth game in the series, at game centers. This series is also famous for the unreasonable behavior of the opponents, and I remember losing money by continuing to play while getting frustrated.

That unreasonableness is still present in this work. Although I ended up playing the game with some frustration, I was impressed by other aspects, such as the short loading times and stress-free UI (user interface). Unlike arcades, there is no need for additional investment, so you can have fun playing.

Above all, the evolved undressing part is wonderful. The undressing scene, called the ``zero distance undressing system,'' allows you to adjust the camera position, giving you an extremely realistic feeling as if the girl is right in front of you. Furthermore, the biggest feature of this work is that it is compatible with VR. If you have a SteamVR-compatible headset, you can add the VR mode additional DLC (1,980 yen) to the game itself (4,980 yen) to enjoy a fully immersive experience (a bundled version is also available). I don't have compatible VR equipment, so I'm very disappointed that I couldn't try it out this time. To commemorate the release, there will be a 20% off sale until 2am on September 10th.

Super Real Mahjong VR has been completed as expected by fans of the series, including the heroine and undressing scenes that have become more attractive with 3D, the comfort of the surrounding system, and the unreasonableness of mahjong just as it was back then. No wonder this is selling well. And it looks like I'll finally be seriously considering purchasing VR goggles.
