Aquaculture Hunting Regulation Updated: Prohibited Species List Extended, Hook and Document Rules Changed

With the Communiqué No. 6/2 on the Regulation of Amateur Fisheries Hunting published in the Official Gazette, new rules and species that are prohibited to be caught were listed.

With the newly added article, an Amateur Fisherman's Certificate can be issued to people over the age of 15 with the written approval of their parents or guardians.

LIST OF SPECIES THAT ARE PROHIBITED TO HUNT HAS BEEN UPDATED\n In the chart published in the Official Gazette, the species that are completely prohibited to hunt are listed. According to the list, there are many species such as Mediterranean monk seal, whitetip shark, whale shark, great shark, hammerhead shark, seahorse, sturgeon, silky shark, eel, dolphins and whales.

In the communiqué, it was stated that bluefin tuna fishing for amateur or sporting purposes will be subject to permission and the procedures and principles will be determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

It will be mandatory to issue a Tuna Catch Document (e-BCD) for caught bluefin tuna.

NEW RULES ARE ALSO ARRIVED IN COMMERCIAL FISHING

New regulations were introduced with the Communiqué No. 6/1 on the Regulation of Commercial Aquaculture Hunting, published in the Official Gazette by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

It has become mandatory for fishing boats that will hunt anchovy with purse purse, midwater trawl and alamana (voli) nets to obtain a hunting permit from the provincial or district directorates.

In the new regulation, it is prohibited to transport horse mackerel to fish meal and oil factories.

The horse mackerel length limit, which was previously applied as 13 centimeters in commercial and amateur fishing, has changed to 12 centimeters with the new regulation.

NEEDLE SIZE CHANGED

An amendment was also made regarding hunting gear in the communiqué. According to the regulation, needle length is defined as the maximum length measured along the handle between the top point of the eye where the fishing line is tied and the top of the needle bend. It was ruled that the length of the needle cannot be less than 7 centimeters.
