Türkiye and 12 Western European countries encouraged to ban imports of goods from Israeli settlements
The Turkish Foreign Ministry, together with the foreign ministers of the UAE, Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, issued a joint statement supporting the UK's decision to ban the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. In the statement, it was hoped that similar steps would be encouraged in accordance with international law and that organizations and individuals involved in illegal settlement activities would be held accountable. It was also stated that they welcomed the Joint Declaration on the Two-State Solution published by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, and that the intention of these countries to impose restrictions on trade in goods with settlements was confirmed. Ministers encouraged the international community to take concrete measures to put an end to activities supporting illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory. In the statement, it was stated that these intentions are compatible with international law and relevant UN resolutions, especially taking into account the UN Security Council resolution 2334 and the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice dated 19 July 2024. Ministers emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory and called for the full and immediate implementation of US President Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. They also emphasized once again that the only feasible way to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace is the implementation of the two-state solution by establishing an independent, sovereign, territorial integrity and livable State of Palestine based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
