Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, answered journalists' questions on the plane before his official visit to Portugal.
Kurtulmuş, who was asked about his evaluation of the fund investigations, said that it was a sensitive issue and that it concerned a very large audience. Kurtulmuş said, "All of these people have invested in the stock market to make a profit from the halal money they have saved, 3-5 kuruş. Whoever speculated on their money, whoever made unfair profits should be brought down their noses, and they should all be held accountable." he said.
Defining the issue as an issue where "it is not possible to say goodbye", Kurtulmuş emphasized that it is "unforgivable" to seize the future dreams of many people.
TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş said, "I hope that it will be effective only in a narrow area of the Turkish economy, and in a narrow area of the stock market, and that the measures taken will yield results in a short time and Borsa Istanbul will be successful." He wished.
Emphasizing that a process should be managed in which not the slightest discussion on economic security will come to the fore in Türkiye, Kurtulmuş said, "I hope that on this issue, which is followed meticulously by everyone, the issue will be addressed with a determination that will not allow anyone to get away with it." he said.
Reminding that the names of some members of parliament were also mentioned in the investigation, he said, "If the prosecutor's office takes the process to a judicial dimension and sends a memorandum to the Parliament, will the issue of lifting immunity during this period arise in a way similar to that of MPs who are faced with other corruption processes?" When asked, Kurtulmuş stated that there is no initiative left to the Speaker of the Parliament regarding the lifting of the immunity of the MPs.
Stating that the motions were referred to the Joint Commission by the Presidency of the Parliament as per the practice, Kurtulmuş said, "The Parliament is still in recess, this issue has not been brought to the Parliament, and no summaries of proceedings have been created. When the summaries are received, the process to be followed is clear." He made a statement.
Kurtulmuş, who was asked about his evaluation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech at the United Nations Security Council and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks towards Türkiye at the UN General Assembly, reminded that President Erdoğan emphasized the determination of the humanity front in his speech and expressed the global conscience to hold the genocidal Netanyahu and his gang accountable.
Kurtulmuş stated that Netanyahu spoke with "the desperation of being cornered" and pointed out that Netanyahu was the subject of the most intense protest in the UNSC so far.
Stating that "This is something that has never happened before," Kurtulmuş continued: "On the one hand, he sees that there is a great hatred in terms of the point the Zionist ideology has reached, and on the other hand, he sees the reaction in that hall about what will happen to him as the head of government declared as a war criminal. I say very clearly, the reaction in the hall is the awakening of humanity's conscience against the genocides committed by Israel after the October 7 attacks. It is an indication that the time for accountability is approaching. The Israeli government, the Zionist regime, "He sees that he will drown in the wave of hatred. This is why Netanyahu is targeting Türkiye here, targeting our President, because it is Turkey, our President, and us that have shown the strongest reaction since the day after October 7, that is, when Israel's attacks began."
Stating that there were only a few countries that spoke in favor of Israel in the international meetings he attended, Kurtulmuş said, "Everyone has come to the point we have put forward. Answering the question regarding the establishment schedule of the Monitoring Commission to be established in the Parliament within the scope of the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, Kurtulmuş stated that they will follow the "deliberative method" in the formation of the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission here as well.
Stating that the Parliament will follow how the process continues on behalf of the nation as the "third eye", Kurtulmuş said, "I hope we will form the commission as soon as possible. A structure should be formed in which all parties in the Parliament will be represented. In this process, if a need for legal regulation arises, in cooperation with the board formed under the chairmanship of our Vice President, and in contact with them, to manage the process related to its formation and, above all, to ensure that this process is embraced on behalf of the nation. It is obvious that there will not be such an intense work tempo as before." he said.
Kurtulmuş said, "Will this commission personally work in the field?" "No. It is the duty and responsibility of the state's official security committees to monitor what is happening in the field." He replied:
When reminded of the criticisms that "politics is not very enthusiastic and is taking it slow", Kurtulmuş said, "Let me be frank, a parliament that has accepted a proposal regarding the process with 467 votes means that the center of Turkish politics, the heart of Turkish politics, has declared that it will never slow down on this issue." he said.
Stating that those who do not like the process, which has great public support, and are mobilized to prevent this from happening, want to disrupt the process, Kurtulmuş said, "I think that all the criticisms such as 'They are indecisive, they are spreading the matter over time' are malicious in order to discredit the politics. Stating that the terrorism issue will be left behind as soon as possible, Kurtulmuş emphasized that those who try to hinder the process will lose and that there will never be any compromises on the "Terror-free Türkiye" issue.
In response to a question, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Kurtulmuş, stated that the terrorist organization PJAK is no longer a risk for them.
Stating that if the rapid integration of the armed militias in Iraq into the state is ensured, not "Terror-free Turkey" but also a "terror-free zone" will gradually begin to be realized, Kurtulmuş said, "We know that there are some provocative elements, especially Israel, who are disturbed by this. Stating that Türkiye needs a new constitution that is civil, modern, inclusive, encompassing and democratic, Kurtulmuş said, "I believe that this Parliament has the power and power to do this. I find discussions such as the 'constituent Assembly' that some talk about completely undemocratic. This Assembly can make the new constitution. Moreover, it is the right time. Asked about the "early election" discussions, Kurtulmuş said, "If more than 360 deputies in the Turkish Grand National Assembly want to renew the election and on whatever date they want to renew it, that renewal process will have started." he replied.
Stating that there is no preparation on this issue, Kurtulmuş said, "The issue of renewing the election is a matter of political climate. The dominant political agenda in Türkiye at the moment is not the renewal of the election." made his assessment.
Kurtulmuş emphasized that he will fulfill his responsibility regarding the new constitution studies and stated that these studies can be carried out this term.
Stating that the Presidential System of Government is largely established, Kurtulmuş said: "I believe that it is accepted by the people because how many elections have been held, including the constitution. Including the presidential elections required by that constitution, Turkey has had three elections, that is, one referendum and two general elections. Therefore, the nation has actually approved this system, but studies have been carried out within the Presidency before, there will definitely be proposals from other political parties, its shortcomings, its shortcomings, and those that need to be revised." "Of course, aspects can be brought to the agenda. Moreover, if we are talking about making a constitution, especially if we are talking about certain radical changes in the constitution, the way to do this is to agree on the ideas that everyone brings to the table. For this, the parties put forward the red lines for themselves. If there is a consensus in the areas where there are no red lines, I think a consensus text will emerge. It is difficult, but as I said, we are talking in a Parliament that has achieved the more difficult thing."
Stating that the idea that the Mecca Defense Agreement was founded on the attack said to be carried out by the Houthis is very wrong, Kurtulmuş continued as follows: "The countries of the region are facing a clear threat. Therefore, the Mecca Defense Agreement is actually an agreement that has been brought to the agenda to protect the countries of the region from the attacks that they have not been protected from until now. It is still at the idea stage. Yes, the agreement was signed, a result came out, its general secretary was appointed, it is a very fresh development. I hope that this agreement will continue by expanding.
