This week in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Mecca Defense Agreement in Parliament

The Mecca Defense Agreement will be discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament in the new week.

The agreement, which is the architect of the defense partnership between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, consists of 16 articles. According to the agreement, an armed attack on any of the parties will be considered an attack on all of them.

The parties will provide support, including military means and capabilities, to the attacked country within the framework of the "right to self-defense" included in Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) charter.

The agreement also stipulates deep cooperation between the parties in the field of defense industry and security. Accordingly, mutual personnel exchange, joint training and exercises can be carried out between defense institutions in order to improve defense capabilities.

THE AGREEMENT WILL BE VALID FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS

The parties will not be able to leave the agreement for the first 10 years following its entry into force. After 10 years, the right to withdraw can be exercised by giving at least 3 months' written notice.

BUDGET WORK WILL CONTINUE

Budget work will continue in the Parliament in the new week.

The 2027 budgets of the Ministries of Industry and Technology, Labor and Social Security, Trade, Treasury and Finance and Culture and Tourism will be discussed in the Planning and Budget Commission.

Group meetings of political parties that have groups in the Parliament will also be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
