The storm that hit Campo Grande late Wednesday afternoon (10) left residents and businesses without electricity in different neighborhoods of the city. On the afternoon of this Thursday (11), some points had already been without electricity for more than 24 hours. The lack of energy caused loss of food and concern about medicines that require refrigeration, in addition to affecting the functioning of establishments.
Among the neighborhoods that still experienced power outages were Panorama, Lagoa Itatiaia, Jardim TV Morena, Vila Margarida, Rita Vieira, Itamaracá, Nasser, Marli, Tiradentes, Monte Virgínia, Carandá and Jardim Novos Estados.
On Rua Itaciara, in Parque dos Novos Estados, a large tree fell during the wind and hit the power grid. With the force of the fall, a power pole broke at the base, fell and rested against the wall of a residence.
The section was completely closed to vehicle traffic. According to residents, until this report was updated, power had not yet been restored.
The situation also raised concerns for families who need to keep medicines refrigerated. The resident, Josy Rezende, said that she has not yet had to ask for help with food or medicine, but she fears losing the insulin used by her son, who has type 1 diabetes.
"I haven't asked for food or medicine yet, but I'm afraid of losing it. My son uses insulin, has type 1 diabetes, and we have medication for the month. We are apprehensive and afraid that she won't return anytime soon."

Traders also report losses
In a residential complex in the Tiradentes neighborhood, an ice cream shop is at risk of losing products stored in freezers. The establishment opened just 20 days ago.
Businessman Renato Daquila said that the power went out around 5:30 pm on Thursday. He remained there until midnight, trying to find a solution to preserve the ice cream, but received no assistance. Despite the application indicating that the supply had been restored, the property was still without power.
At Padaria Monte Virgínia, owner Helio Carlos Hernandes said the team tried to reduce losses by taking part of the production to another center, where bread and savory snacks were prepared and then transported back to the unit.
Even so, products were discarded. According to him, the French bread that was stored in a cold room could not be used because it had risen beyond its prime. Sweets, cakes and other products that were displayed on the counter were also lost.
The trader explained that he preferred not to sell food that could have been compromised by the lack of refrigeration.
“You can’t run the risk of handing this over to the customer and causing a problem for a child or an elderly person.”
In Carandá, residents also faced difficulties. Francinei Aleixo reported that her mother's house, on Rua Cigana, had been without power since 5:20 pm on Thursday. To keep electronic devices charged, he had to look for other places. The family also fears losing the food stored at home.
On Wagner Jorge Borttoto Garcia Street, near the intersection with Hiroshima Avenue, a tree fell onto the power grid during the storm. At Francinei's property, power had already been restored, but the tree continued to block the street.
In the Jardim Novos Estados neighborhood, residents of a residential condominium say they have been without power and water for more than 24 hours. Valéria Ruas said that there are several elderly people in the place and that some depend on electrical devices to breathe.
An ambulance was called to assist one of the residents. According to Valéria, the food has already been lost due to time without refrigeration.
“We have been here for more than 24 hours without electricity, all our food has already been lost and we are also without water.”
Residents also claim that they registered complaints with Energisa, but the calls appear in the system as resolved, even though the properties remain without power.
The report contacted Energisa and Campo Grande City Hall, which reported that they had teams in the capital.
