Storm causes damage and leaves people homeless in Rio Grande do Sul

Most of the records were hailstorms, with 31 occurrences. In Seberi, the roofs of 480 homes and two schools suffered damage. In Braga, 150 houses in the urban area were affected and rural roads were blocked. Pinhal reported damage to 70 homes.

The 20 displaced people are concentrated in three cities. In Santa Bárbara do Sul, 12 people had to leave their homes after damage to 30 homes. In Campo Bom, a mass movement in the Santa Lúcia neighborhood destroyed one house and damaged another, leaving four people homeless, with no injuries. In Três Palmeiras, flooding also displaced four residents.

Civil Defense issued a flood warning for the Uruguay River, with a very high risk starting in the municipality of Iraí. The agency's guidance is to avoid floodable areas. The notice is valid until 5pm on September 12th.

After the instability, the forecast is for predominantly stable weather over the weekend, with the approach of a colder air mass. Sunday (13) remains stable, but maritime humidity may cause drizzle in the eastern half. In the Metropolitan Region, the sky becomes more cloudy, with conditions for isolated showers and low volumes.

Next week starts with low temperatures. On Monday (14), the minimum temperatures are between 4°C and 14°C in Rio Grande do Sul.

On Tuesday (15), the polar air keeps the weather steady in most of the state, with a minimum of 5°C in Quaraí. It rains in isolation only between the Coast and the extreme South, with the highest volumes predicted for cities such as Caraá and Osório.
