A knife-wielding incident was reported in the Cathay Pacific lounge at Taoyuan Airport. The suspect was subdued by the Thunderbolt Team.

A 44-year-old man broke into the lounge at Taoyuan International Airport and held a 23-year-old Cathay Pacific male intern surnamed Huang hostage. Upon receiving the report, the Aviation Police Bureau dispatched its online police network to the scene, and dispatched the Criminal Police Brigade and Perak Team for support. Finally, they successfully subdued the suspect and rescued the kidnapped intern.

The Aviation Police Bureau stated that it received a report at 5:25 pm. The scene of the crime was the Cathay Pacific employee lounge and was not a controlled area of ​​a terminal. When the police arrived at the scene first, they found that the man involved was holding a fruit knife and was confronting the personnel at the scene. The police immediately began to deal with the incident and deployed police forces outside the lounge. Several aviation police were on standby with shields and stun guns, and they continued to communicate and persuade the men in the lounge.

Cathay Pacific also immediately reminded via radio that "no one should go back to the lounge now" to prevent other personnel from entering the scene and causing danger. Subsequently, the Criminal Police Brigade and the Perak Team arrived at the scene to provide support, and the police continued to deal with the knife-wielding man.

At about 5:50 pm, the Perak team seized the opportunity to launch an attack. They quickly entered the lounge and sprayed pepper spray on the man before subduing him and successfully rescued the kidnapped Cathay Pacific intern.

The intern surnamed Huang who was held hostage suffered a cut on his left hand and was sent to Lianxin Medical Center for treatment after being treated by on-site doctors. The aviation police said that the man with the knife only suffered flesh injuries during the subdument process and was taken to the criminal police team for further questioning and then sent to the hospital.

Cathay Pacific also issued a statement stating that an unknown person broke into the Cathay Pacific employee lounge at Taoyuan Airport this afternoon, and that the unknown person had been subdued and arrested by the local police. "We are very concerned about employee safety and will provide all necessary assistance to affected employees," and will fully cooperate with relevant investigations.
