Ministry of Commerce Started Inspection and Investigation in the Hazelnut Market

The price and market practices of hazelnuts, which are among Türkiye's important agricultural products and have a significant share in world hazelnut exports, frequently come to the public's agenda, especially during harvest periods.

The Ministry of Commerce continues market inspections in the hazelnut market in order to protect the rights of producers, cover production costs, support the sustainability of production and ensure that consumers have access to the product at affordable prices.

In this context, the Ministry of Commerce appointed an inspector to examine the transactions in Ordu, Giresun, Ünye and Fatsa Commodity Exchanges operating in Ordu and Giresun provinces, where hazelnut production and trade is intense.

In the statement made by the Ministry, "The inspection and examination process for the transactions in the commodity exchanges in question has been initiated by the inspectors of the Ministry of Commerce and the work is currently continuing." It was said.

As a result of the investigations, it was stated that if activities that create a shortage in the market, disrupt market balance and free competition, or prevent consumers from accessing the products are detected, the necessary administrative sanctions will be applied.
