Formula 1 statement from TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı

In his statement to the AA correspondent, Eren Üçlertoprağı made an evaluation about the return process of Formula 1 to Türkiye and the current situation of Istanbul Park.

Emphasizing that there was great interest in the race both from abroad and domestically after the announcement that Türkiye would return to the F1 calendar, Eren Üçlertoprağı said, "We carried out a long negotiation process with the authorization of our state. At the end of this process, we announced this to the world in Dolmabahçe on April 24, under the auspices of our President, in what I can call the best package for our country. It is truly a pride for all of us to organize this race in our country again after 16 years." he said.

"Our track will undergo comprehensive modernization work as of November."

Eren Üçlertoprağı said that comprehensive modernization works will begin at the Istanbul Park track in November in order to offer a better racing experience to F1 lovers.

Stating that the track has been neglected in the past, TOSFED President said, "We will carry out some modernization works to ensure that the track reaches the minimum conditions required to host F1 races in the world, which we call a first-class track, due to wear and tear over time, and more importantly, with the development of technology. We will do this with the opportunities provided by our Ministry of Youth and Sports. Thank you, our Minister Osman Aşkın Bak also supports us a lot. Our track will undergo a very comprehensive modernization work as of November. It will seriously increase the comfort of the spectators. It will be better for our guests coming from home and abroad. "A racing and viewing experience will be offered. The infrastructure of our track will be completely changed, and a very comprehensive and serious technological revision will be made." he said.

"Returning to the calendar will further increase the existing value of Istanbul Park."

Eren Üçlertoprağı stated that all the races held in Istanbul are well remembered by automobile sports enthusiasts.

Eren Üçlertoprağı noted that the introduction of new tracks such as Madrid into the calendar also increases the value of Istanbul Park and said, "We have a track that is truly thoroughbred, a racetrack that brings competition to the fore, with its escape points, ease of passage and, more importantly, its drawings, which is highly appreciated by the pilots. Returning to the calendar in this way will further increase the existing value of Istanbul Park. The state of the current cars here, the characteristics of our corners and of course, you know, our eighth turn... All the events that take place in Istanbul." "The races have left a very good place in the memories of automobile sports enthusiasts, so I think we will host very important races here for the next five years that will be etched in everyone's memory." The Turkish Grand Prix will re-enter the Formula 1 calendar as of next year.

The Turkish Grand Prix, which will be held as the 17th stage of the Formula 1 World Championship, will be held on 1-3 October 2027.

Istanbul Park will host Formula 1 for 5 years starting next year.
