Toyota Camry instrument system has safety concerns, Taiwan launches recall update

Toyota Camry has reported safety concerns about the instrument system. Due to a problem with the 7-inch full-color digital instrument program in some vehicles, an error may occur when starting the vehicle, causing the instrument to be unable to display the screen. This also causes the direction lights, hazard warning lights and some warning buzzers to not operate properly, which may increase the risk of accidents or occupant injuries while driving.

The recall affects certain Camry vehicles manufactured between March 25, 2024, and May 21, 2026. The original manufacturer pointed out that if the instrument does not display necessary driving information and cannot provide warning sounds such as key reminders and driver and front passenger seat belt not fastening reminders, the driver may not be able to immediately grasp the vehicle status and take appropriate measures, which may cause safety risks under certain circumstances.

For recalled vehicles, the original manufacturer will notify owners by registered mail from September 7, 2026 to return to the factory for free program updates of the 7-inch full-color digital instrument; if the instrument cannot complete the program update, the full-color digital instrument assembly will be directly replaced.

The original manufacturer stated that the relevant recall operation is estimated to take about 1 to 2 hours depending on the actual processing content. After receiving the notice, the car owner can contact the original manufacturer according to the instructions in the letter and arrange a return to the factory for maintenance to ensure that the instruments, direction lights and related warning functions operate normally.
