Tragedy at the Colosseum: Andrea Moretti's body returns to Tottea today, funeral tomorrow

A week after the tragedy at the Colosseum, the body of Andrea Moretti, the 22-year-old worker who died instantly after falling from a height of ten meters in the Colosseum, during the construction of the monument's new lighting system, returns to his Tottea today, in Crognaleto in the province of Teramo.

Having obtained clearance from the Prosecutor's Office following the autopsy and toxicological tests, the family was able to organize their final farewell. The funeral chapel will be set up starting from 1pm today, Wednesday 30 September, at the young man's home. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 11am at the Lourdes Grotto in Tottea.

The family members, including the mother Silvana, the father Fabrizio and the sisters, requested respect for their pain, praying to keep the funeral celebration private. In conjunction with the funeral, the mayor of Crognaleto, Orlando Persia, announced the proclamation of city mourning.

In view of the funeral rite, this morning the mayor himself will participate in a special summit in the Prefecture to define the delicate organizational and logistical aspects. Since Tottea is a small mountain town nestled in the Laga Mountains, the meeting is necessary to prepare a plan capable of safely managing the massive flow of participants expected for the young man's farewell.
