Brigadier General Duwaid announced the Houthis' West Coast operations in Yemen

In his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X, Brigadier General Duveyd shared details about the latest military operations in which the Houthis captured positions controlled by government forces on the West Coast.

Claiming that the operations, which have been planned for months, were carried out under the direct instructions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and under the management of Iranian and Lebanese experts, Duveyd stated that the attacks in question are a part of Iran's war in the region and aim to control the Babulmandep Strait.

Duveyd stated that the Houthis deployed more than 76 thousand fighters in the recent attacks to capture the Babulmandep Strait in the West Coast region.

Stating that government forces defended the coast and the islands with a 170-kilometer front line, Duveyd noted that between August 9 and September 9, the Houthis used 130 ballistic missiles, 145 kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 15 explosive-laden boats.

Duveyd stated that 23 missiles and 18 UAVs targeted the positions where Tariq Saleh, Vice President of the Yemeni Presidential Council and Commander of the National Resistance Forces, was located.

Stating that electronic warfare units detected 5 thousand 346 radio devices near the contact line, Duveyd noted that they had to retreat under intense bombardment and that the number of casualties and injuries in their own ranks was over 2 thousand.

Duveyd claimed that the Houthis also suffered heavy losses and that hospitals in the regions they controlled were overflowing.

Emphasizing that the fight is not over despite the recent position losses, Duveyd said, "We lost one round, but our will will not be broken. We will continue to defend ourselves, our liberated regions and our republic." made his assessment.

The Houthis have not yet made a statement on the issue.

The civil war in Yemen, which started in September 2014 with the capture of the capital Sanaa and some cities by the Houthis, intensified again on the West Coast and the Red Sea line as of July 2026.
