Call from All Pensioners' Union for 'regular raise' in Eskişehir

All Pensioners' Union Eskişehir Branch made a press statement on Hamamyolu Street.

Branch President Ali Pasha Şanlı said the following in the statement calling for "regular raises to retirees and ensuring income justice":

"In the public opinion polls held in 2023, when the AKP government realized that it would not find what it expected in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, it made important promises to the retirees. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, three days before the elections on May 11, 2023, said that all increases in civil servant salaries would automatically be reflected on retired civil servants. On the same day, AKP Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu said about the regulation to be made, 'Everything is affected by this regulation. "Our retirees will also benefit." However, in the regulation made after the elections, while a net payment of 8 thousand 77 liras was made to the salaries of public officials, no additions were made to the salaries of retired civil servants.

"NO STEP HAS BEEN TAKEN TOWARDS THE PROMISES MADE TO PENSIONERS"

Despite all this time, no steps have been taken towards the promises made to retirees. There was no positive response to our struggles and initiatives. As retiree unions, it is very clear that this style is a 'tactic to stall retirees'. Excluding retirees in the law is against Law No. 4688 and the principle of equality of the constitution. The People's Alliance government, led by the AKP, went around the law, brought the issue to a 'fait accompli', and literally cheated.

"WE STRUGGLE FOR A FAIR INCOME DISTRIBUTION REGULATION"

No explanation has been made for SSI and Bağ-Kur retirees who receive pensions within the scope of the bottom pension, or for those who receive widow, disabled and orphan pensions. It is about increasing pensions to humane living conditions, with a regulation based on equality, not discrimination. That's why we are fighting for a fair income distribution regulation. The monthly raise, which amounts to 25 thousand 100 liras today, should be evaluated in this context and given to all retirees immediately. The Constitutional Court will discuss the case on its merits in this sense. We hereby call out to the Constitutional Court: This meeting should not take too long. Extending the period will leave the Constitutional Court in doubt. "We expect the Constitutional Court to discuss the case in question without delay and to put an end to lawlessness and injustice, on behalf of 17 million retirees."
