Turkish Airlines Becomes Liverpool's Jersey Sponsor

Turkish Airlines will be Liverpool's shirt sponsor as of the 2027-28 season. Within the scope of the cooperation, the THY logo will appear on the front of the jerseys of Liverpool's men's, women's and academy teams.

Following the sponsorship of Turkish Airlines, Turkish investments in Liverpool attracted attention. Two industrial and service groups from Turkey have companies in Liverpool that make their presence felt in the city's economy.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE RECOVERS ITS BATTERIES

ICoNiChem, located 20 kilometers from Liverpool city center, was acquired by Cengiz Holding in 2020. The company produces specialty cobalt salts for technology-intensive industries. The facility, whose production increased from 900 tons to 1,800 tons after being transferred to Cengiz Holding, transforms the products coming from Eti Bakır's Mardin Mazıdağı Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Facility into cobalt products with 99.99 percent purity. ICoNiChem, which exports to more than 10 countries, also recovers nickel and cobalt by recycling waste battery powders of electric vehicles.

CRUISE PORT AT GPH

Cruise port operator Global Ports Holding (GPH), a subsidiary of Global Investment Holding, took over the operation of Liverpool Cruise Port with a 50-year agreement signed in April 2024. Investments continue to increase the port's passenger and ship capacity. GPH, which has committed to an investment of 25 million pounds to modernize the infrastructure and increase capacity, aimed to increase the number of passengers, which was around 186,000 per year before the agreement, to over 300,000 passengers per year with the investments.
