Bed capacity of accommodation facilities in Türkiye exceeded 1.9 million

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism data, as of August, there are a total of 21 thousand 608 facilities across Turkey with tourism operation certificates, tourism investment certificates and simple accommodation tourism operation certificates.

The total number of rooms in these facilities was recorded as 928 thousand 638, and the bed capacity was recorded as 1 million 939 thousand 125.

While there were 596 thousand 643 rooms and 1 million 255 thousand 744 beds in 8 thousand 768 facilities with tourism operation certificates, the capacity of 455 facilities with tourism investment certificates consisted of 54 thousand 434 rooms and 122 thousand 218 beds.

There are 277 thousand 561 rooms and 561 thousand 163 bed capacity in 12 thousand 385 facilities with simple accommodation tourism operation certificate.

One in every three beds is in Antalya

When evaluated on a provincial basis, Antalya ranked first in the bed capacity of Ministry-certified accommodation facilities.

The city has a bed capacity of 654 thousand 133 in 2 thousand 764 facilities with tourism operation certificates, tourism investment certificates and simple accommodation tourism operation certificates.

Accordingly, Antalya meets approximately 33.7 percent of the total bed capacity certified by the Ministry throughout Türkiye. Accordingly, approximately one out of every three beds in Ministry-certified accommodation facilities in Türkiye is located in Antalya.

Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 272 thousand 731 beds, Muğla with 243 thousand 256 beds, Izmir with 94 thousand 936 beds and Aydın with 58 thousand 675 beds.

The total bed capacity of Ministry-certified accommodation facilities in Ankara was recorded as 42 thousand 249.

In terms of the number of facilities, Istanbul ranks first with 3 thousand 192 facilities, while Antalya ranks second with 2 thousand 764 facilities.

68.6 percent of the bed capacity of environmentally friendly facilities is in Antalya

The Ministry issues an "environmentally friendly facility certificate" to businesses that protect nature, save energy and water, reduce and recycle their waste, and adopt sustainability as a principle.

In this context, there are 428 accommodation facilities with environmentally friendly certification throughout Türkiye. The total capacity of these facilities consists of 132 thousand 241 rooms and 284 thousand 507 beds.

Antalya, which ranks first in environmentally friendly certified facilities with a rate of 68.6 percent, has 89 thousand 58 rooms and 195 thousand 206 beds in 217 facilities.

Antalya is followed by Istanbul with 57 facilities and 25 thousand 927 beds, Muğla with 43 facilities and 22 thousand 36 beds, and Izmir with 28 facilities and 11 thousand 354 beds.

In Ankara, there is a bed capacity of 6 thousand 684 in 19 environmentally friendly certified accommodation facilities.
