Türkiye's new defense technology: TOYCA-10E

While Turkey has expanded its technological capabilities in different areas with the unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous systems it has developed in the defense industry in recent years, local and national solutions are being shaped according to new generation operational needs.

Technologies developed in unmanned systems such as range, autonomy, ability to function in an electronic warfare environment and flexibility of use in the field are increasingly diversifying Turkey's product range in the field of defense. A new platform has been added to the studies in this field: TOYCA-10E.

The electric unmanned aerial vehicle TOYCA-10E, developed by BAYKAR-supported new generation Turkish defense technology company Skydagger, offers medium-range strike capability with its 250-kilometer range and 10-kilogram warhead carrying capacity, and can be launched with a catapult and can be sent to different terrains and operational conditions. The system also draws attention with its ability to continue its mission in high electronic jamming conditions and its autonomous flight features.

The prominent features of TOYCA-10E point to a period in which Turkey not only increases the number of platforms in unmanned systems but also develops new capabilities for different operational needs.

The platform's mission continuity in electronic warfare conditions and its 250-kilometer range, which can autonomously perform planned missions via Skydagger Flight Planner, expand the system's usage options in the field.

Evaluating the operational meaning of TOYCA-10E and the opportunities it can create in the field of defense, Security and Psychological Warfare Specialist, Retired Intelligence Colonel Coşkun Başbuğ stated that one of the most important features of the system is that it can be sent to different terrains and conditions without the need for a runway.

Başbuğ pointed out that the fact that TOYCA-10E is not connected to a classical runway infrastructure increases its flexibility of use in the field and made the following evaluation:

"The main feature of TOYCA is that it does not need a runway. This product is launched from the catapult and does not need any runway. Therefore, it is an important advantage that it can be made ready for duty in any terrain and under different conditions. 10 kilograms is a serious warhead, and 250 kilometers is a serious distance. When these features come together, the impact that the system can have in the field becomes very important."
