Message of cooperation between TURKSOY and the UN Alliance of Civilizations

According to TURKSOY's written statement, at the meeting chaired by UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Levent Gümrükçü, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister Yalçın Rafiyev, Kazakhstan First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerjan Aşıkbayev and Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Vepa Hacıyev spoke.

Gümrükçü, one of the co-sponsors of UNAOC, stated that cultural diversity should be seen as a source of strength, not a threat, and drew attention to the importance of dialogue between civilizations in the face of increasing intolerance and polarization.

Secretary General Raev emphasized that cultural diplomacy is not only a complementary element in international relations, but also one of the powerful tools of preventive diplomacy.

Raev pointed out that the world is facing serious problems such as wars, forced migrations, hate speech and social polarization, and touched upon the importance of protecting cultural heritage and establishing mutual trust between societies for lasting peace.

Raev stated that the common cultural heritage of the Turkic world is integrated with the universal values ​​of humanity, and stated that TURKSOY has been operating for more than 30 years to protect, preserve and introduce the common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples to the world, and that it is ready to share its experience in the field of cultural diplomacy with UNAOC.

Secretary General Raev stated that new projects can be developed between TURKSOY and UNAOC in the fields of youth exchanges, cultural dialogue programs, literature and art meetings, protection of common cultural heritage and preventive diplomacy through culture.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Rafiyev stated that the 7th World Intercultural Dialogue Forum to be held in Baku will make significant contributions to the work of UNAOC.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Ashikbayev also emphasized the importance of strengthening interfaith harmony and disseminating the culture of peaceful coexistence.

Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Hajiyev, emphasized the role of dialogue, mutual respect and adherence to international law in preventing conflicts and expressed their readiness to develop cooperation with UNAOC.
