One year ago the Castel D'Azzano massacre, private ceremony in Padua

Today marks the first anniversary of the Castel d'Azzano massacre (Verona), where during a joint operation by the police, an explosion in the farmhouse of the Ramponi brothers killed three carabinieri, Valerio Daprà, Marco Piffari and Davide Bernardello.

In Padua in the morning a private ceremony took place at the Veneto Carabinieri Legion Headquarters, in the presence of the regional commander, Ettore Bramato, and the families of the three victims.

Another 26 people were injured in the explosion of the farmhouse, including Maria Luisa Ramponi, accused together with her brothers Franco and Dino of conspiracy massacre, resisting a public official and possession of explosive material. The fuse that triggered the tragic explosion was apparently lit by the woman, who suffered serious burns in the explosion.

The three brothers are in prison and have been sent to trial: the trial will open on 26 October in the Court of Assizes.

In Forette, a hamlet of Castel d'Azzano, a memorial mass will be celebrated in the afternoon.
