UN envoy warns of unprecedented violence by Israeli settlers in West Bank

According to UN Middle East envoy Ramiz Alakbarov, violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank is reaching "unprecedented levels." Between June 13 and September 18, 630 attacks were registered that resulted in injuries or property damage, Alakbarov told the UN Security Council. Many of the attacks would take place in the presence of Israeli security forces.

During the period, three Palestinian communities were completely displaced, Alakbarov said. Since 2023, 49 communities have been similarly displaced. Alakbarov also criticized the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which violates international law and threatens the prospect of a contiguous Palestinian state and a two-state solution.
