Drug Baron İslam Yakut Caught in Sarıyer with Fake ID

Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement last night regarding the capture of drug lord İslam Yakut.

In the statement, it was stated that Yakut gave instructions to the members of the organization through encrypted communication programs and that a fake Bulgarian identity document issued in the name of Denis Georgiev was seized.

"HE HAS BEEN WANTED SINCE 2017"

The statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said:

"Within the coordination of our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; with the support of the Istanbul Police Department, MİT Directorate and EGM Anti-Narcotic Crimes Directorate, within the scope of the work carried out to capture İslam YAKUT, the fugitive leader of the international drug trafficking criminal organization; İslam YAKUT has been wanted for the crimes of "Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing a Crime" and "Drug Trafficking" since 2017, and in the studies carried out, the person has been hiding from places abroad and at home for a long time. It has been determined that it continues its activities.

"HE WAS USING ENCRYPTED COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS"

In the research conducted within the scope of the investigation; It has been revealed that İslam YAKUT gave instructions to the members of the organization using the "ANOM and SKY ECC" encrypted communication systems, that the criminal organization he leads organized the illegal transportation of large amounts of heroin supplied from Iran and Afghanistan to European countries, and synthetic drugs obtained from Europe to our country, and in this context, was responsible for 2 tons of drugs seized in our country and European countries.

In the operation carried out by our Istanbul Police Department within the scope of the investigation file of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the criminal organization in question in 2024, the other leader of the organization, Erhan YAKUT, and the managers and members of the organization were caught and arrested. Assets considered to have been obtained through crime belonging to the organization's administrators and members were confiscated. Within the scope of the operation, it was not possible to capture the leader of the organization, İslam YAKUT, and the search for the person as a fugitive continued.

As a result of the studies carried out, it was determined that İslam YAKUT was located in Istanbul and was hiding at an address in Sarıyer district, and the person was caught and taken into custody in an operation carried out jointly by our Istanbul Narcotics and Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorates on 10.09.2026. "During the searches carried out at the address where the person was hiding, a fake Bulgarian identity document issued in the name of Denis GEORGIEV belonging to İslam YAKUT was seized."
