UAE President Mohammed bin Sajid on a state visit to Berlin

Berlin. The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohammed bin Sajid, has begun a two-day state visit to Germany. He was welcomed with military honors in Berlin by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in the morning. Germany and the Emirates want to significantly expand their relations with the visit. According to Emirati information, agreements worth billions are to be concluded. Details are not yet known.

Steinmeier and Sheikh Mohammed then withdrew for a discussion. In the evening the Federal President gives a state banquet for his guest. He will also meet with Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) in the afternoon. The agreements should be signed.

Both sides made it clear in advance that they wanted to take their relations to a new level. This is a response to new crises in the world, such as the Iran war, into which the United Arab Emirates was also drawn. Both countries are looking for new political, economic and military allies or want to deepen existing partnerships. The aim is to reduce dependencies.
