Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus announces new family of vehicles in partnership with SAIC Motor

The company, which turns 45 years old, will expand its operations beyond trucks, buses and light commercial vehicles and will present a new family of vehicles at Fenatran 2026, between November 9th and 13th, in São Paulo.

The name of the vehicles has not yet been released. When sales begin, they will be imported from China. At the same time, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus is already working to structure regional production.

The new line is the result of a cooperation agreement between VWCO and the Chinese SAIC Motor, one of the largest automakers in the world. According to Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, this is the first time that the company will have an international Asian partner in a launch.

Although Volkswagen still keeps vehicle details confidential, the models are already in an advanced testing phase. Prototypes are evaluated near the VWCO factory in Resende (RJ), where the company's global research and development center is also located.

The official presentation of the new family of utility vehicles will take place at Fenatran 2026. The event will also mark other VWCO launches.

The company will present the new generation of D26 Ultra engines for the Meteor and Constellation extra-heavy models. It will also show advances in its decarbonization strategy and a service structure aimed at connecting vehicles, service and maintenance.
