“Widow’s Bay” dominates the Emmy Awards and Matthew Rhys makes history

The comedy series “Widow’s Bay” dominated the Emmy Awards for best evening programs on Monday, winning 6 awards. One of them was for actor Matthew Rhys, who made history by being the first to win two different award categories for Best Lead Actor in the same year, for his role in this series and the miniseries “The Beast in Me” (produced by Netflix). Thus, he also became the first actor to win the lead acting award in all three drama genres, having previously won an honor for his role in the series “The Americans.”

Despite being the most nominated work for awards before the ceremony began, “The Pitt” series only won two awards during the ceremony, one of which was the award for best drama series, noting that it had also won some awards at the preliminary ceremony that was held last week.

Actress Jean Smart, the heroine of the series “Hacks,” also won the award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, achieving a historic achievement by becoming the first actress to win awards in this category for every season of the series.

Awards were distributed to other works, such as the series “DTF St. Louis,” which won the award for best short series.
