XREAL will release AR glasses “XREAL AURA” jointly developed with Google and Qualcomm in fall 2026

On June 17, China's XREAL announced that it will release its new AR glasses "XREAL AURA" in the fall of 2026. The optical see-through XR glasses were jointly developed with US Google and US Qualcomm, and on the same day, they began accepting special benefits for those who pre-ordered them.

The price has not yet been determined, but according to XREAL, the US retail price of the base model is expected to be less than $1,500 excluding tax (approximately 240,000 yen at the June 2026 rate), and the official price will be announced before release.

XREAL AURA is an XR glass with a built-in wide viewing angle of 70 degrees in a lightweight frame weighing only 91g. It integrates Google's XR platform "Android

This enables on-device AI processing without relying on the cloud. It also incorporates XREAL's unique coprocessor "XREAL X1S Spatial Coprocessor", which handles low-latency spatial display and sensor processing.

Additionally, the outward-facing sensor mounted on the frame supports hand tracking, 6DoF (position/attitude tracking), and multimodal AI. Since it is based on Android XR, Android apps (for smartphones and tablets) work as is, and can be downloaded directly from Google Play. It has a nearly standalone configuration that does not depend on external devices such as smartphones.

The actual XREAL AURA machine is on display at the XREAL booth at Contents Tokyo 2026, which is currently being held at Tokyo Big Sight. It looks similar to sunglasses, and you can see that it has a total of three cameras on the left, right, and center. The side frame seems a little thick.

XREAL AURA is a partnership product announced by Google at the annual developer conference "Google I/O 2025" held in May 2025, and was previously under development under the code name "Project Aura". This is the first AR glasses to use Android XR.
