Apple's new generation compact tablet iPad mini 8 is out of the box! Drawing attention with its larger OLED screen, new A20 Pro processor, thinner frames and IP67 certification, iPad mini 8 comes with significant innovations compared to the previous generation. So, what does the new iPad mini offer, what accessories come in the box and what is the price in Türkiye? Let's unbox the new iPad mini 8 together.
What are the features of iPad mini 8?
With the iPad mini 8, Apple is making a significant change on the screen side of the compact tablet family. The IPS LCD panel used in the previous generation is now replaced by the Super Retina XDR OLED screen. The screen size has also been increased from 8.3 inches to 8.5 inches.
The OLED panel offers a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 1 nits minimum brightness. This makes it possible to use it at lower brightness levels, especially in dark environments. The screen frames have also been thinned by 24 percent. Despite this, the overall dimensions of the tablet are largely preserved.
Another important change on the design side is thickness and weight. The thickness, which was 6.3 mm in the previous generation, has been reduced to 5.4 mm. The weight of the Wi-Fi model decreased from 293 grams to 255 grams. Thus, the new model has a structure that is 38 grams lighter.
Huge performance increase with A20 Pro processor
One of the most important innovations of iPad mini 8 is its processor. Powered by the A20 Pro processor developed with 2 nm production technology instead of the A17 Pro, the tablet promises serious performance increases compared to the previous generation.
According to the data shared by Apple, the new model can offer up to 60 percent higher multi-core CPU performance, up to 2.7 times graphics performance and up to 4.5 times artificial intelligence performance compared to the previous generation.
128 GB and 256 GB storage options have a 5-core CPU, 7-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. The 512 GB option includes a 6-core CPU and 7-core GPU, as well as a dual 16-core Neural Engine configuration for a total of 32 cores.
The fact that the combined memory bandwidth has more than doubled compared to the previous generation is noteworthy, especially in terms of processing-intensive applications and artificial intelligence features.
Offers IP67 certification for the first time
One of the notable innovations of the new iPad mini is durability. With this model, Apple brings IP67 water and dust resistance certification to the iPad mini family for the first time.
Within the scope of this certification, the tablet offers endurance for up to 30 minutes in fresh water at a depth of 1 meter under appropriate test conditions. Of course, this feature does not mean that the device is waterproof in all conditions.
Camera and connection features
iPad mini 8 has a 12 MP wide camera on the back. This camera, which can record 4K video, is accompanied by Adaptive True Tone Flash. Improvements are aimed especially in low-light photography and document scanning.
On the front, there is a 12 MP Center Stage camera placed on the long side of the tablet. This layout aims to provide a more useful experience for those who use the tablet horizontally in video calls.
On the connection side, there is Apple N1 wireless connection chip and Thread network technology support. The reliability of AirDrop and AirPlay connections has also been improved.
Apple C2 modem is used in the cellular connection model. According to Apple's data, up to 50 percent higher cellular data speed and better energy efficiency are provided compared to the previous generation. The Cellular model does not have a physical SIM card slot; The connection is only available via eSIM.
How much is the price of iPad mini 8 in Türkiye?
The starting price of Apple's new compact tablet in Türkiye was announced as 48,999 TL. The starting price of the Wi-Fi + Cellular connected model is 59,499 TL.
The tablet is offered in two different color options: Midnight and Starlight.
