City councilors Dai Weishan, Yan Weici, Zhang Jinhao, Su Jinxiong, Lin Bingyou and others paid attention to the New Taipei City sports policy and invited Mayor Hou Youyi to add each other as Line friends and exercise together after leaving office. Councilor Green Camp pointed out that New Taipei City has insufficient funding for athlete training and a low population of regular exercisers. He called for improving the safety of sports venues and facilities and holding special events. Hou Youyi promised to review and improve and build a sports city for all.
Yan Weici pointed out that according to the 2026 Sports City Survey by "Foresight Magazine", New Taipei City has the highest number of professional athletes cultivated among the six cities, but the per capita funding received by each athlete is the lowest among the six cities. She requires the city government to supplement sports funds and provide substantial support to the players. ; In addition, although New Taipei City's "Active Health" has 500,000 members, the proportion of citizens who exercise regularly ranks second to last among the six cities. People also reported that the app is difficult to use and the products are difficult to redeem. The "Sweat and Become a Gift" campaign launched by the Sports Department has been widely praised. New Taipei City should increase its feedback.
Dai Weishan said that there are too many road running events nowadays, which compete for fame, characteristics, and once-in-a-lifetime competition. She suggested that the city government organize road running and challenge activities within the dome site, introduce AR and VR curation, and invite citizens to imagine the future of the New Taipei Arena. In addition, regarding the safety of citizens’ sports, Dai Weishan bluntly said that the quality of outsourced operations of many public sports centers is uneven, and people are injured but lack of proper treatment. She requires the city government to actively supervise manufacturers and implement emergency sports injury rescue training for staff to protect citizens’ sports rights.
Zhang Jinhao said that New Taipei City has internationally renowned benchmark events such as the Wanjinshi Marathon, but large-scale events are expensive and have high thresholds. The city government should invest resources to create small and medium-sized competitions or activities that combine local creativity and interest. It is recommended to combine it with the elderly care card feedback mechanism to encourage elders to participate, and through the concept of "stamp collection" to connect the city's 29 districts with the characteristics of local business districts, promote regular sports for all, and drive local economic development.
Su Jinxiong suggested that the aboriginal people living near the sea are good at fishing, diving and water sports, and sports policies should not omit special types of sports needs.
Sports Director Hong Yuling said that the proportion of the population who regularly exercised will increase by 4% from 2020 to 2025. New Taipei City uses the strategy of making sports fun, starting from the roots of school sports and extending to the community to promote sports among all people. In order to practice the concept of equal rights in sports and social inclusion, it organizes sports activities for multiple ethnic groups and enhances the sports rights and resources of all ethnic groups to participate equally. This year, resources such as civil society organizations and schools at all levels will be integrated to promote regular citizen movement in a distinctive, community-based, professional and diversified manner.
